Let’s talk about love.
I love the fact that there is a holiday for love. Valentine’s Day has always been a favorite of mine. Although I’d be lying if I said it was always for the same reason. In grade school, the Valentine’s Day party was the absolute best. On top of all the sweets I got to take home, my mom made my card box look like SpongeBob – it was the one day of the year I felt like the coolest girl in school, for good reason too.
So maybe now I don’t love the holiday because of a cartoon that lives in a pineapple, but I have my reasons. I love love. I am head over heals in love with love. The power of it. The versatility in it. The way it makes me feel. Love is what brings each and every one of us onto this earth. Love is what we are remembered by when our time is up. Love is always the answer.
So, yeah, I love Valentine’s Day.
I love Valentine’s Day because it is a reminder – a reminder that the love in my life is overwhelming. A reminder to say thank you.
To the people that have shown me love this year.
For opening my eyes. For welcoming me in. For making me feel at home halfway around the world.
To my circle.
For having my back. For being my reason to smile. For dancing our nights away.
To the love around me.
For brightening my life. For teaching me what it looks like. For giving the world hope.
For making every mile between us worth it. For embracing me and all of my quirks. For playing board games until I win.
& Lastly, to the best love of all, God’s.
For forgiving me continuously. For showing me an unconditional love that I don’t deserve. For sending your Son so that we could live and dance and cry and fail and most importantly, so that we too could love.
I hope you all know how loved you are.
